We couldn't be more excited to announce our incredibly powerful partnership with Red Bull Racing Honda to fund the collection of 7,464,000 plastic bottles in weight by 2022, equivalent to 84,851 kgs. Together, we are empowering individuals everywhere to be a part of the solution to stop plastic from entering our ocean, whilst supporting locals living in coastal communities worldwide who exchange plastic for valuable rewards including money, products, tuition, healthcare, and access to micro-finance. That’s enough plastic bottles put together to cover 253 laps of the Silverstone circuit and the length of almost 5 British GPs… Pretty mega if you ask us!
This announcement couldn’t have come at a better time after drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez picked up P1 and P3 in Austin last weekend, extending Max’s reign as leader of the Drivers Championship by 12 points.
Red Bull Racing Honda is highly ambitious when it comes to becoming a more sustainable team, and we’re proud to play a part in this journey. They continue to set targets and make initiatives that are aimed towards lessening their environmental impact, and encourage others to do the same.
When it comes to the fight against plastic pollution, our aim has always been to show that no individual action is too small. By showing the huge, positive environmental impact that Red Bull Racing Honda can have on ocean plastic collection, we want to inspire more communities to realise that an accumulation of individual actions creates a powerful group force. With ocean plastic expected to quadruple by 2040, we’ve got no time to waste when it comes to making an impact and need everyone on board.
