We are proud to be a B-Corp certified brand, with a 2024 B-Corp status of 107.6.
So, what is a B Corp?
A B-Corp is a for profit organisation that uses their business as a force for good. Businesses are evaluated on five key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. This evaluation culminates in an overall “score” and any company achieving higher than 80 is awarded B-Corp status.
While B Lab’s holistic approach effectively stamps out greenwashing claims, no certification standard is foolproof. This one-size-fits-all model can be a disadvantage because it assesses diverse business types, such as ours, which focuses on reuse and refill systems, alongside companies producing single-use bottles. Because of this, some unique business impacts may not be accurately captured. That being said, B-Corp is one of the best impact assessments we’ve come across to date!
Why is this needed?
When we choose which organisations to support, it helps to have trust in their social and environmental claims. This certification scheme gives credible seals of approval - using a score system - to all those companies committing to making a positive impact on their employees, communities, and environment. Each of these scores are published, giving customers the chance to see their performance and find like-minded businesses. And, it doesn’t stop there! In order to retain the score, or increase it, businesses have to continually improve their impact and face the assessment every three years.
Our B-Corp Status
Ocean Bottle has been a proud B-Corp since 2020, joining a host of other UK B-Corps leading by example and putting purpose alongside profit. We originally achieved a score of 89.6 and became B-Corp certified after we launched our sustainable water bottle, the 500ml Original Ocean Bottle.
Since then, following the expansion of our reusable water bottle category, including the 1L Ocean Bottle and our first water bottle with straw - the 500ml Go Bottle, as well as introducing reusable cups and flasks, we are proud to say that our 2024 certification score has increased to 107.6!

B-Corp certification is about genuine commitment, and a ‘no BS sustainability’ culture. Do we plan to improve our current status in the next three years? Yes! But our impact goes beyond just us.
We have a community of individuals and businesses joining us on this mission. We have partnered with over 5,000 other businesses to support their CSR goals through co-branded bottles which fund ocean plastic collection and enable hundreds of thousands of individuals to both reduce their single use consumption and fund the collection of plastic pollution.
Together, we can turn the tide on plastic pollution.
