The ocean as we see it today is not what it once was. It’s time we shift the narrative.
ONE WORLD ONE OCEAN
Julia Leboose
Writer and Swimmer
At times, the ocean can appear deep and daring, but as Disney’s The Little Mermaid highlights, there's beauty and peace to be found within the water. When you get the chance to soak in its soft waves, listen to its never-ending rhythmic sounds, and watch it gleam blissfully in the light, or dive deep and discover the diverse and, in some cases, singing marine life, you unlock what the ocean really has to say.
Or if you're like me, your exposure to water began and has almost entirely lied within the four corners of an indoor pool. Even with the absence of waves, that peaceful feeling remains. Leaving your problems at the edge of the pool and joining your friends as you splash around, completely letting go and allowing your mind and body to escape, is a special feeling everyone should experience.
