Seasons change everywhere.
The shift is something we all share, no matter where in the world we are.
In the northern hemisphere, days grow shorter right now. Sunsets come earlier, and the air feels cooler. It’s maybe a season of quiet reflection after a busy summer, and a reminder that time moves, and so do we.
Here at Ocean Bottle, as we step from summer into autumn, we’re taking a moment to reflect on our global ocean advocates, especially the collectors who make sure plastic doesn’t end up in our ocean.
In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Ronaldo Marica knows these shifts well. His work keeping Rio’s beaches plastic free continues through the turn of the seasons.
In Brazil, the changes are marked less by autumn leaves and more by the cycle of rainy and dry seasons. When the rains come, rivers swell, feeding fertile soil and sparking bursts of life across the landscape.
With the rain, though, comes more risk of waste being washed into waterways. Ronaldo’s role in restoring coastlines: ensures that plastic bottles don’t make it from city to sea. His work becomes even more vital during this season, as he helps protect and restore Rio’s beaches, and the ocean, from plastic pollution.
Half a world away in Bali, Indonesia, Asis and his wife Atmawati dedicate themselves to restoring their island’s shores. Bali’s seasons bring their own rhythm, from the dry months with their golden, endless sunsets, to the rainy season where clouds gather and the light softens earlier in the day.
With every tide, plastic waste finds its way to the beach. For Asis and Atmawati, the cycle of collecting and recycling never stops, because the ocean never stops.
The truth is, seasons change everywhere, and with them, so do we.
We shed the old, carry forward lessons, and step into what’s next. Autumn here brings shorter days and cozy evenings; a chance to pause and reflect. For us at Ocean Bottle, that reflection is simple: how can we keep doing our part to protect what we love?
The collectors we work with, from Rio to Bali and beyond, remind us that no matter the season, small actions matter. Together, we can keep plastic out of the ocean, season after season, year after year.
As the days turn colder, we have also welcomed our Twilight Coastal Collection: Bottles designed to move with you through every season, while helping to keep our ocean plastic free.
