We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with City to Sea, an environmental charity on a mission to stop plastic pollution at its source. As their reusable bottle partner, Ocean Bottle and the City to Sea team will work together on a whole systems approach to plastic pollution and prevention.
A WHOLE SYSTEM APPROACH TO PLASTIC POLLUTION
Here at Ocean Bottle we tackle plastic pollution through two avenues that fit perfectly into one model. To destabilise the single-use, plastic bottle demand, we produce reusable drinkware that is designed to last. At the end of the supply chain, we use revenue from sales to collect plastic in heavily polluted coastal regions. By working with our plastic collection partners we clean rivers, beaches and ocean-bound community environments that suffer from an overaccumulation of plastic pollution.
City to Sea was founded in 2015 – the year their home city of Bristol was European Green Capital. Founder, Natalie Fee had her plastic awakening in 2014 when she came across the trailer for the film Albatross and decided she had to do something about plastic pollution.
Since its inception, City to Sea have :
- Introduced the ‘Refill’ brand
- Called for legislative change, lobbying policy makers to set ambitious and legally- binding targets around single-use plastics and reuse.
- Raised awareness of the problems, championing the solutions for a move away from single-use to reuse.
- Delivered practical solutions to make refill and reuse more accessible, in collaboration with businesses, local councils and NGOs.
- Inspired communities to take action where they live and embed meaningful behaviour change.
TURNING THE TIDE TOGETHER
Partnering with like-minded, purpose-led organisations amplifies our global impact.
Through this partnership, we are collaborating and utilising our efforts more effectively, in order to maximise our impact. Plastic pollution and single-use, convenience buyer behaviour is a multifaceted, complex issue that requires more than one approach and perspective on how to combat it.
As partnered organisations, we have the ability to advocate more effectively for policy changes, corporate responsibility and public awareness. By fostering mutual support, solidarity, and shared goals, we can strengthen the overall resilience and sustainability of our refill movement.
Together, we aim to tackle the problem with a collaborative, multi-faceted whole systems approach for maximum impact 🤝
